Vivek Haria s a British composer and writer of Indian heritage based in London. His music explores ideas of listening, memory, landscape, identity, and belonging, often drawing together traditional and contemporary influences through a distinctive and deeply personal musical language. Choral music lies at the heart of his work, alongside a growing interest in the relationship between sound, place, text, and the natural world.

Recent projects have included collaborations with ensembles and organisations including the BBC Singers, the London Symphony Orchestra, Cheltenham Music Festival, and Swaledale Festival. In 2026 he was selected as one of the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Composers, through which he was commissioned to write SANGAM: Songs of the River, a new song cycle inspired by the rivers Swale and Ure and premiered at Swaledale Festival by soprano Margaret Lingas and pianist Christopher Glynn.

His music has been recorded and broadcast on BBC Radio 3, and he has spoken about his work on BBC Radio 4. Recent compositions have been influenced by themes of active listening, ecology, heritage, and cultural confluence, often emerging from close engagement with literature, landscape, and personal experience.

Earlier highlights include a commission for internationally acclaimed musicians Mahan Esfahani and Fenella Humphreys, premiered at the Cheltenham Composer Academy in 2022, and participation in the London Symphony Orchestra’s Soundhub scheme as a Composer Associate.

Vivek read Music at Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge, where he studied composition with Raymond Yiu and Richard Causton. He continues to be mentored by Brian Elias.

Beyond his musical pursuits, Vivek is a chartered accountant.
